President to open third ward complex at CNH

President Mahinda Rajapaksa will open the newly built third Medical
Ward Complex at the Colombo National Hospital today, a Health Ministry
spokesman said.
According to the spokesman the third Medical Ward Complex built at
the Colombo National Hospital at a cost of Rs. 420 million will ease the
congestion at the hospital. The bed capacity of the hospital will
increase from 3,100 to 3,500 with the opening of the new complex.
“The third Medical Ward Complex built at the Colombo National
Hospital has all modern facilities and medical equipment required for
treatment. This 10 storeyed building complex consists of wards, theatres
and all other requirements,” he said.
“This is the sixth project completed under the Health Ministry’s 2013
- 2017 Health Development Programme, “he said.
More development projects are in progress in order to upgrade the
Colombo National Hospital and strengthen the free health service of the
country. A 16 storeyed OPD, 10 storied dental institute and seven
storied Epilepsy Unit are among them.
“Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena, officials from the Health
Ministry, Colombo General Hospital etc will participate at the opening
ceremony, he added.
