Shortcoming galore at Mirissa Town

Mirissa Town, declared a Tourism Zone, is plunged in total darkness at night, tourist hotel owners in Mirissa said.

They said Mirissa is the first ever Tourism Zone in Sri Lanka. They said roads here are dilapidated and full of potholes. They request the authorities to remedy this situation without delay. Tourist owners also said speeding vehicles on Galle road at Mirissa pose death threats to sightseers and nature lovers.

They said plans to set up a police post at Mirissa still remains a dream.

The tourist hotel owners said tourists are harassed and fleeced by unruly elements.
