Maintenance units in provincial hospitals

The Southern Provincial Health and Indigenous Medicine Ministry has taken measures to set maintenance units in hospitals in the region.

Southern Provincial Council Health Ministry sources said maintenance units have already been established in state hospitals in Tangalle, Tissamaharama, Kamburupitiya, Balapitiya,Walasmulla, Elpitiya, Deniyaya and Udugama.

Medical equipment, instruments, machines and tools for the smooth functioning of hospitals have also been supplied by the Provincial Health Ministry.

The sources said measures are underway to expand the project to provincial, district and rural hospitals and dispensaries in the region.

The main objective of this is to repair hospital equipment and apparatus in the institute, an official said.

The project will be launched on the instructions of Southern Provincial Council Chief Minister and Health and Indigenous Medicine Minister Shan Wijayal de Silva, he said.
