The operation theatre of Debarawewa Base Hospital in Tissamaharama
which was converted to a fully fledged hospital at a cost of Rs five
billion, still remains defunct due to several reasons, sources said.
The non-availability of specialist doctors, generators, air
conditioners and other facilities are among the shortcomings at the
hospital, they said.
The sources said as a result, patients have to be taken to the
Hambantota General Hospital.
Dr S G H Krishantha, DMO of Debarawewa Base Hospital said this has
been brought to the notice of the Provincial Health Ministry.
