Sri Lankan Women Cricketers felicitated

The Sri Lanka National Women's cricketers who did well in the ICC
Women's World Cup 2013 were felicitated by Sri Lanka Cricket in a
felicitation ceremony held at Taj Samudra Hotel on Wednesday.

All the members who represented Sri Lanka in the World Cup were
rewarded with cash awards in recognition of their excellent performance.
Speaking at the ceremony chief guest former Sri Lanka Cricket
Chairman Upali Dharmadasa said that the Sri Lankan women cricketers
performed exceptionally well in the Women's World Cup held in Mumbai and
they have brought honour and fame to their motherland. Securing fifth
place in the women's cricket world cup 2013 is a significant achievement
for Sri Lanka when compared with previous tournaments where they have
failed to live upto expectations.
The Sri Lanka women's national team skipper Shashikala Siriwardena
said that Its a great pleasure to represent Sri Lanka at Womens Cricket
World Cup 2013 held in Mumbai.We discussed how to achieve an individual
goal by working as a team, and worked hard to achieve success. I take
this opportunity to thank Sri Lanka Cricket who supported us in enormous
ways since 2006 and thanked their coach Harsha de Silva for guiding them
along with team Manager A.R.M.Aroos. She also paid a glowing tribute to
Mrs Gwen Herat who took great pains to bring Sri Lanka women's cricket
to the highest international level. Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary
Nishantha Ranathunga stated that the Lankan girls performed well and
they will be continuing their support to uplift the women's cricket in
Sri Lanka. He further mentioned that the Sri Lanka Cricket hopes to come
out with a main sponsor for the national women's team.
Shashikala Siriwardena(Captain), Sandamali Dolawatte(Vice Captain),
Eshani Kaushalya Lokusooriya, Dilani Manodara, Sripali Weerakkody,
Deepika Rasangika, Oshadi Ranasinghe, Yashodha Mendis, Chamari Atapattu,
Lasanthi Madushani, Chamari Polgampola and several others were
felicitated. |
