Reveals true character of TNA to Indian MPs:

President Mahinda Rajapaksa is the only leader who brought peace, freedom and harmony to Sri Lanka by eradicating terrorism. The allegations by the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) targeting the President and the present government cannot be accepted, Vanni and Kilinochchi districts SLFP organiser Geethanjali Naguleshwaran said.

She was addressing a meeting at the Indian Deputy Commissioner’s Office with a team of Indian MPs who visited the Northern and Eastern provinces. Naguleshwaran denied the allegations by the TNA and revealed the true character of the TNA to the Indian MPs when TNA MP M.A. Sumanthiran attempted to criticise the government. Sumanthiran said the government has not taken measures to remove defence personnel from the North and there is no clear procedure in the resettlement process.

The government has not yet given a correct answer about the persons who went missing during the war period . It is dragging its feet on the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) recommendations. The lands acquired for military establishments had not been returned to the original owners, the MP charged. Denying the allegations Naguleshwaran said at present there is a peaceful environment in the Northern and Eastern provinces.

“All Tamil persons have the freedom to travel anywhere in the world. President Mahinda Rajapaksa is the person who created such an environment for Sri Lankan Tamils,” she said.

The government is working out the LLRC recommendations step by step. A number of development projects have already been launched in the North and East to uplift the livelihoods of the civilians affected by terrorism, she said.
