Southern Expressway crash kills businessman

A man died in an accident along the Southern Expressway in Galanigama yesterday. The victim was identified as A.G.D. Shanaka, 40, a businessman from Maharagama.

He was travelling to Tangalla from Maharagama with his wife, son and daughter. Shanaka, who was driving the jeep, had not been wearing the seat belt. The vehicle had crashed into the fence in the centre of the road and bounced about five feet, eye witnesses said. Shanaka’s wife and daughter were seriously injured and hospitalised. His son son and pet parrot were not injured.
