Travelon offers domestic tour to Mullaitivu

Travelon has introduced a tour to Mullaitivu and the customary New Year tour to Vietnam during April 13 to 21.

The domestic tour “Mullaitive war tourism” package will be during April 4 to 6. As a value addition Travelon has added VISHWAMADHU (near Paranthan) which is not usually added on to the itinerary. In addition to Vishwamadhu, Fruit Garden Farm, Torture Chambers (LTTE) and Prabhakaran’s Hospital the usual site visits (9 places) of Mullaitive, Nandikadal Lagoon, Wellamullawaikkal, Puthukuduirrippu and Pudumatalan are included.

Farah III – Ship, Swimming Pool, Submarine Yard, Boat Yard, Prabhakaran’s Bunker, Soosai’s House, Vehicle graveyard, Victory Monument, Memorial for 1400 Sri Lankan Army personnel are some of the places that will be covered during the tour.

Overnight stays and Army’s Green House or Lagoon’s Edge Bungalow for both nights.

As for lunches the group will be hosted at Medawachchiya Rest House (CHC) and Casserole Restaurant in Anuradhapura.

The luxury tour by Travelon to Vietnam will be from April 13 to 21. The unique feature of this tour is the inclusion of the World famous SAPA hill station by sleeper train in addition to Ho Chi Minh City, Cu Chi Tunnels, Dannang, Hoi An, Hue, Hanoi and Halong Bay. Vietnam Embassy in Sri Lanka in close association with Travelon advised to add Sapa to the itinerary which is a pioneering effort by any travel agent in Sri Lanka.

‘Fingara in Delkanda, to invest Rs. 400 mn for banquet hall’

Fingara a Country Club near Delkanda is planning to invest over Rs. 400 million to build a new banquet hall and also to upgrade their facilities.

General Manage R. P. Pushpakumara, a veteran in the field having served in a number of five star hotels, said that the refurbishment would begin in the near future, after the festive season, while the construction of the 350 cover banquet hall would commence end of the year.

He said that the Fingara Town and Country Club was inaugurated by well known entrepreneur, Mervyn Jayasinghe and currently there were over 110 staff members who would provide the internationally recognized country club’s concept away from the city limits of Colombo.

The most significant feature of the Fingara Town and Country Club was the fact that some of the facilities that the elite of over 1,000 life members enjoy were also available for the daily customers who patronize the club. “Fingara Town and Country Club” has earned a reputation for its high standards in Sri Lanka and there are more new members who wish to join the club. This is the reason why we are reinvesting,” he said.

The Fingara Town and Country Club is equipped with all modern facilities to host any type of occasion which includes, weddings, birthday parties for kids, or get-togethers indoors or out doors in lawn areas. The club is studded with more than 30 veteran chefs who are specialized in preparing different dishes of many Asian and European countries to suit the taste buds of each and every national.

In addition to the Sri Lankan food menu the club is specialized in presenting Chinese, Russian, Indian, French, German, Pakistan and English food by selected chefs who hail from the same country and prepare according to the same recipe.

”Saturday buffet dinner is a much looked forward to event and it was half the price of a up market hotel,” he said.

The Fingara Town and Country Club while offering star class facilities, also caters to five major sporting events which were on par at international level.

The Fingara Town and Country Clubs,’ indoor cricket nets are the best in the Asian region and most visiting test cricket teams take the opportunity to use our nets during bad weather times. In addition, a lot of young cricketers have also benefited in patronizing the indoor nets.”

Some of the other sporting facilities available in the club were badminton, squash, tennis, basketball, billiards and snooker in addition to a highly modern indoor gymnasium. They have also invested over Rs. one million to install new equipment to the Gym imported from Italy.

In addition, the club posses a 25 metre swimming pool which hosts events on a regular basis. The club is equipped with a one and half acre car park.

Discover CIC ‘Up in the Air’

CIC Holdings PLC (CIC) a leading blue chip in Sri Lanka recently saw the winners from the second leg of its Discover CIC 'Up in the Air' competition cruise the skies over its enthralling fields. The five winners from round two and five of their guests saw themselves taking a journey to Dambulla to experience the ride of a lifetime courtesy of Discover CIC.

Since its inception in June 2012, the Discover CIC Facebook page has managed to amass a 22,000+ strong following, resonating its philosophy 'nurturing life' amongst its followers. 'Up in the Air' began with a simple game on the Discover CIC Facebook page in 2012.

The second round of the much anticipated game saw the culmination of a 10 week long competition emerge with one winner each week. Each winner was also provided with a seedling with the goal of nurturing its growth and giving contestants the chance to witness the wonder of agriculture as the sapling sprouts.

Commenting on the competition, Samantha Ranatunga, CEO/ Managing Director of CIC Holdings stated: “Discover CIC has opened new avenues for CIC, giving people the opportunity to understand the beauty of nurturing life in an engaging, interesting manner.

We hope that with contests such as 'Up in the Air' people will see the face of agriculture in a whole new light, and beyond the commonly known meaning of Agriculture which is to go to the shop, buy fruits, veggies and cereals, come home and simply cook and eat it. '

The 'Up in the Air' competition winners were transported to Dambulla to Windsor Park, where they spent the evening before beginning their adventure the following morning.

Winners woke up to head to the CIC balloon ride lifting off from approximately 50km south-east of Windsor Park at an agro-tourism resort situated in Hingurakgoda.

The lucky winners then spent the day in the air being treated to the majestical wonders of nature and agriculture in an uncommon way.
