Moratuwa, Peradeniya Engineers unite for research

The Moratuwa and Peradeniya Engineers have joined hands to synergize the collective strength of Sri Lankan engineers throughout the globe to collaborate and support engineering innovations and research in our country. The inaugural Mora - Pera Engineers Reunion is to be held at the University of Peradeniya on Saturday, March 30, 2013.

“It is expected to be a great opportunity for engineers from various generations to re-establish contacts and networks. The outcome of such collaborations would no doubt enhance their collective contribution to Sri Lanka's society.

This being a timely initiative, I being an engineering graduate from the University of Moratuwa, look forward to meet my batch mates as well as fellow engineers from both universities,” said Eng. Dr Nalaka Godahewa, Patron of Mora - Pera Engineers Reunion and Chairman of the Securities Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka.

Eng Nihal Rupasinha, Chairman, Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau and Patron of Mora - Pera Engineers' Reunion, representing the Peradeniya Engineers, commented, “In our professional lives , we build concrete bridges and robust power or communication networks.

I believe as engineers, we need to build stronger bridges between leading engineering institutions and create influential professional networks among engineers, to collaborate more and more. As we are aware, a large percentage of Sri Lankan engineers work and live aboard. Building a global engineers network, is a timely and commendable objective of Mora - Pera Engineer's reunion initiative.

Nevertheless, social media would not completely replace our human interactions. It is nice for us to meet once a year for a social gathering. I believe that the Mora - Pera Reunion, creates this opportunity, said Damith Hettihewa , Chairman, Organizing Committee or Mora - Pera Engineer's Reunion.

The inaugural T20 Cricket encounter and Fellowship Dinner too, would be held and the Moratuwa and Peradeniya Engineers could register for both events at http://morapera.aurora.lk/
