Wild Horses to turn heads at HSBC CFW
Colombo Jewellery Stores’ latest collection to be unveiled at HSBC
Colombo Fashion Week being from Aprril 3-5.
The Wild Horses Equestrian Collection epitomises the dashing air that
is evocative of these beautifully graceful beings, a species of the
genus Equus whose sheer individualism and ‘wildness’ is enigmatic.
CJS highlights these traits in this collection, using for the very
first time, gemstones intermingled with leather, each piece absolutely
unique and very symbolic of that individualism that wild horses possess.
“We have always thought out of the box when it comes to designing our
jewellery,” says Chairman of CJS Akram Cassim, exampling the
hand-painted watch CJS designed way back in 1951 in collaboration with a
Swiss Watchmaker.
“And in this instance, combining leather and gems is certainly unique
for CJS as the general mindset is that these two elements may not blend
as well together. But that’s the beauty of this Wild Horse Equestrian
Collection.
The fact that the horses’ individualism, wildness, beauty, grace and
that inherent glamour are brought together.”
Introducing yellow, gold and white Sri Lankan gems, CJS adds a little
bit of history to the collection, as a continuance from its Perpetual
Grace Collection launched in December last year by CJS Brand Ambassador,
award winning Bollywood star Jacqueline Fernandez.
It was CJS Founder Thaha Cassim’s passion for magnificent horses that
was the inspiration for the Perpetual Grace Collection, in particular
his horse Golden Buckles who typied that individualistic personality
coupled with elegance, glamour and an undying spirit.
“There is an inherent eternal grace that horses have carried with
great pride, panache and elegance for centuries that we are bringing to
life,” Cassim explains. “So from Perpetual Grace which was essentially
inspired by my grandfather’s incendiary passion for horses, we are now
using the panorama of wild horses to ignite HSBC Colombo Fashion Week,
which is a platform that showcases the best of Sri Lankan fashion.”
Having been associated with HSBC Colombo Fashion Week for the past
seven years and each year, debuting an original collection, CJS will, on
the 5th of April this year cascade the equestrian theme throughout the
showing.
This will surely herald one of the most unique collections ever shown
on a Colombo fashion ramp.
Given that the host venue is the Hilton Colombo for HSBC Colombo
Fashion Week, CJS will hold a customized promotion at the Hilton elegant
dining venue, Spoons, aptly titled ‘Spoons Full of Luck’. On April 4-5,
some lucky diners may discover a diamond horseshoe served up on their
plates, truly symbolic of the flavour of adventure, exploration and
discovery that goes with the territory of wild horses. |
