Laugh more and be healthier
Nadira Gunatilleke
If you laugh more than 12 times a day, have a happy life with your
wife/husband, do physical exercises for about 30 minutes per day and
drink plenty of water, you can keep away almost all Non Communicable
Diseases (NCDs) without spending a cent on expensive drugs, Health
Ministry Spokesman W.M.D.Vanninayake said.
Vanninayake said that all specialist doctors advice people to get
their endorphin hormone increased by doing the above acts.
The hormone is the key factor to happy one all the time. When the
hormones increase in the blood stream, the person always feels happy.
Happiness prevents depression which leads to many NCDs. According to
Vanninayake, NCDs, such as, heart diseases, diabetes, high blood
pressure, kidney diseases, cancer and strokes are on the rise in Sri
Lanka at the moment. NCDs pose the main threat to people’s health.
Depression is one of the key factors that leads to
NCDs. The public and the Government spend an enormous amount of funds
on medical treatment required for NCDs and related complications.
