Unilever makes clean sweep at SLIM-Nielsen People’s Awards
Unilever Sri Lanka won a total of five awards at the SLIM-Nielsen
People’s Awards, making it the company with the most awards, at the
ceremony held at Water?s Edge yesterday.
The Company’s iconic germ-protection brand, Lifebuoy, won the awards
for “FMCG brand of the year,” “Youth FMCG Brand of the year” and
“Personal Care brand of the year.” Unilever Sri Lanka’s flagship brand,
Sunlight, won the “Household Care Brand of the Year” award, while Laojee
won the award for “Hot Beverage brand of the year.”
This is the second year in a row that Lifebuoy has swept the stakes
at the People’s Awards, and the fifth time that the brand has won the
“Personal Care brand of the year” proving once again that it occupies a
special place in the hearts and minds of Sri Lankan consumers. The fact
that nine Unilever brands were nominated for seven different award
categories is testament to these brands being a part of daily life in
households across the nation.Commenting on the achievement, Asanga
Ranasinghe, Marketing Director for Home and Personal Care, Unilever Sri
Lanka stated that, “Consumers are at the heart of all that we do at
Unilever. Winning the SLIM-Nielsen People’s Choice Awards is a special
achievement for us, as it is proof of the claim that these iconic brands
have on the consumers’ affection and confidence.” Marketing Director for
Foods, Ramani Samarasundera added, “We are thankful to our consumers for
the constant support that they have shown our products by choosing our
brands every day.
Whilst we celebrate their love and loyalty, we remain committed to
crafting beloved brands that meet the growing and changing needs of our
consumers.”
The SLIM-Nielsen People’s Awards is a prestigious event held annually
by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing - the national body of marketers
of Sri Lanka, in association with the Nielsen Company.”
The awards are extra special to marketers and brands as it is based
on the votes of the general public, as opposed to other awards that is
based on the selection of a jury. |
