Chathuranga helps Maristonians to force a draw

Chathuranga Rajapakse’s unbeaten century (108 n.o.) and five wicket haul by Ruwin Sinniah(5 for 60) helped Maris Stella College Negombo to force a draw in their under 19 division one match against De Mazenod College played at Kandana yesterday.

Maris Stella who were struggling at 36 for 4 overnight were shot out for 81 in 39.2 overs. Dishen Rodrigo (18) and Prasansana Jayamanne(28) were the only batsmen to avert the Mazedonian bowling pressure. Shaluka Silva bagged 3 for 11 while Duleepa Senaratne 3 for 10.

After being asked to follow on, Maris Stella scored a splendid total 236 for 4 in 67 overs in their second essay where Chathuranga Rajapakse hammered his unbeaten century including 16 hits to the ropes.

A fine unbeaten century(101) by Adeesha Thilanachana and a good double including a match bag of 10 wickets (5 for 59 and 5 for 17) and an unbeaten half century(56 not out) by Ramesh Mendis helped Dharmasoka College them to beat Sri Sumangala Vidyalaya Panadura by 8 wickets in their inter school under 19 division one match played at Ambalangoda yesterday.
