Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W D J Seneviratne registers the marriage of a couple in Kotakathena during a mobile service.

Politicians are representatives of civilians. They should ensure the security of the public and uplift their livelihoods. These are the two important responsibilities of politicians, Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W D J Seneviratne said.

The minister was speaking while participating in a mobile service in Kotakathena, Kahawatta.

The minister distributed warning alarms among the public in Kotakathena to alert Forces’ personnel immediately during an impending disaster or accident.

“Kotakathena recorded a number of crimes during the recent past. This was stopped with the involvement of Kahawatta Police personnel,” the minister said.

All civilians should respect defence forces personnel who sacrifice their lives to safeguard public security,” he said. The minister said the government implemented a special security plan along with the Defence Ministry in Kotakathena area to control the crime wave.
