Ishara Mudugamuwa
The time is opportune to commence a social dialogue involving all
communities to answer in one voice, the baseless allegations levelled
against Sri Lanka by local and foreign conspirators, said Vehicle
Importers Association of Sri Lanka President Mahinda Sarathchandra.
The Sri Lanka Vehicle Importers Association plans to make foreign
ambassadors aware about the adverse impact of the baseless allegations
levelled against Sri Lanka.
Addressing the media at the 80 Club in Colombo, recently, President
of the Vehicle Importers Association said all these allegations against
Sri Lanka satisfy only the minority who support the LTTE. But these
allegations make the country unstable and violate the human rights of
the whole of civil society in Sri Lanka.
"It is important to commence a social dialogue on the allegations
levelled against Sri Lanka and the whole country should unite to defeat
them without considering race, religion, political differences, etc."
Sarathchandra said.
He also requested the United Nations to find out the real motives
behind the groups making these allegations.
"The United Nations organization should not allow groups who make
baseless allegations against Sri Lanka to use the UN to fulfill their
narrow objectives. It is a common occurrence in the world to see
powerful countries using developing countries to fulfill their personal
requirements. Sri Lanka is now experiencing this, Sarathchandra said. He
further said Sri Lanka is a country with an ancient and proud history.
Sri Lankans are now reaping the dividends of peace which was created
with the dedication of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Armed Forces.
"So, this is the opportune moment to guide Sri Lanka towards a
prosperous future, "he said.
