Temple to be conserved

Naigala Rajamahaviharaya at Weeraketiya will be excavated and conserved under the guidance of the National Heritage Ministry.

Excavation and conservation work will be carried out by the Archaeological Department.

According a survey in 2009, it has been found that monuments of archaeological and historical value remain unearth, Viharadhipathi ven. Muruthawela Nayaka Thera said.


Woman fined for having illicit liquor

A woman of Mathugobe division, Viharahena, who was in possession of 7,500 millilitres of illicit liquor was fined Rs 7,500 by Morawaka District Judge Kusalani Ayodya.

The suspect was arrested by the officials of Deniyaya STF camp.


Cattle stolen

Two cattle worth Rs 75,000 were stolen from a compound in Kalukodayawa village on Wednesday.

No arrests have been made. Investigations are continuing.


Medical camp

The medical camp of St Matthias Church, Moratuwa will be held at St Matthias Church, Luxapathiya, Moratuwa on March 9 from 8.30 am to 3 pm.

Seminar

The United Nations Information Centre will conduct a seminar on 'Woman, a mother courage: I hear her cry' for students who follow courses in journalism and mass communication today at 10 am at the UN compound, 202 -204, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7.

This is being held to mark International Women's Day 2013.


Optimism and hope

A worship, prayer and praise service will be held on March 10 at 10.30 am at the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7. The speaker and the minister at this service, open to all, will be Vijaya Corea who will seek to answer the question:' Is there a difference between optimism and hope.'


Training course

The NGO Forum on Ageing (NFOA) will conduct a 10 day non-residential training programme for caregivers from March 11 to 22 at Mallika Nivasa, Vishaka Road, Colombo 4.
