Ridma Dissanayake
Marching orders had been issued to four Divisional Secretaries due to
their misbehaviour, Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W D
J Seneviratne said yesterday.
He said these persons will never be deployed to the positions which
have to deal with the public.
The ministry's Inquiry Division received over 180 complaints from the
public against government officers during the last two months and
marching orders have already been issued to the four Divisional
Secretaries, the minister said. "We received 181 public complaints
against state sector employees working in the Divisional Secretariats.
Four Divisional Secretaries have already been dismissed from the
divisional administrative service. They will never be deployed to
positions where they have to deal with the public," Seneviratne said.
The Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry established a
Special Investigations and Operations Unit to inspect the divisional
administrative service.
The unit conducted inspection activities in the Anuradhapura district
last month.
They will conduct inspections in the Polonnaruwa district on March
15, Minister Seneviratne said.
The minister said efforts have been made to provide an efficient and
public friendly administrative service. He urged public administrative
officers to support the government's development process while providing
a public- friendly service.
