World peace discussed at Korea conference
Prime Minister D M Jayaratne participated in the World Peace Envoys
Conference in Seoul, South Korea recently, the Prime Minister's Office
said in a release yesterday.
The conference was conducted for five days with the participation of
around 1,200 delegates from various countries. Measures to secure world
peace was discussed at the conference.
Prime Minister Jayaratne was honoured with a doctorate by the Sun
Moon University of Korea for his dedication towards religious
co-existence.
The Prime Minister who had discussions with Sri Lankan ambassador to
Korea Tissa Wijayaratne focused on providing formal training
opportunities for Sri Lankan workers in Korea.
The need to increase Sri Lankan workers' share in the Korean job
market was also discussed during the meeting. Prime Minister Jayaratne
also visited London after the conference.
He participated in discussions with Sri Lankans in London.
