Disna Mudalige
No country has officially informed the Sri Lankan government about a
resolution against Sri Lanka at the UNHRC sessions in Geneva, Mass Media
and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said. He said the stance
of the government towards such a resolution would depend on its content.
The Indian central government has also maintained the same stance,
the minister said. He was responding to a journalist at the Cabinet
press briefing yesterday. Rambukwella said the government categorically
conveyed to the world the progress made by post - war Sri Lanka in the
direction of reconciliation and peace.
Addressing the Cabinet press briefing at the ministry auditorium
yesterday, the minister said what the government requests from the
international community is to analyze these achievements in comparison
with other countries. He said the government is genuinely content with
the progress it has made within a short period after the end of the war.
Rambukwella said the delegation representing Sri Lanka has
communicated to the international community the achievements of the
country one by one in the post - war scenario in an attempt to lobby
their support.
He said the government has never given up its hopes to obtain
positive results in this event. Government Information Department
Director General Prof Ariyaratne Athugala also participated. |
