Hunt on fraudsters

An audit investigation is being carried out over a cash embezzlement amounting to more than one million rupees at the Puttalam Zonal Education Office by auditors attached to the North Western Education Ministry.

Fifteen schools in the Puttalam Zonal Education office were selected to be provided mid-day meals. A group of officials attached to the zonal education office are suspected to have committed the fraud by obtaining funds without supplying midday meals to students of some schools. Audit inquiries are under way to crack down offenders.
