Holiday for Hindu schools

Monday, March 11 will be a school holiday for all students of Hindu schools in view of the Maha Siva Rathri Day, which falls on Sunday, states a communique issued by the National Languages and Social Integration Ministry.

Vasudeva Nanayakkara as Minister of National Languages and Social Integration has drawn the attention of President Mahinda Rajapaksa to the fact that Maha Siva Rathri, is a special day of religious significance for Hindus and sought his approval to declare it a holiday for Hindu school children.

This has been approved by the President and on his directives, Education Minister Bandula Gunawardene has announced Monday, March 11,as a holiday for Hindu children, the communique said.
