Harpo congratulating one of the students

Harpo’s School of Tourism and Hospitality along with Asha Trust (Sri
Lanka) handed out certificates to the second batch of students who
passed out in F&B service recently.
Thirteen students enrolled and nine completed the 3 month course
which also included industrial training in city hotels.
Eight young men and one woman received their certificates at a simple
but a very happy ceremony. It was encouraging to note that all 18 of the
first batch are now working, mostly in the hospitality field.
Important lessons in this training programme is there is a lot more
than teaching a skill, it opens up a new world for many of these young
people, building confidence and self-esteem, enabling them to believe
they are worthy of a job. Harpo’s School of Tourism & Hospitality MD
Harpo Gooneratne along with School Director Asoka Jayawardena and Neil
who led the training together with Steve and Katherine of Asha Trust UK
and Sri Lanka were present on this occasion held at the Asha Trust
office Dehiwala.
