Moratu V on first innings

Moratu Vidyalaya had to be satisfied with a first innings win over more fancied St. Anthony’s College, Kandy in their inter-school under 19 cricket match worked off at Moratuwa.

Resuming at 67 for 7 in reply to Vidyalians total of 180 on day two Antonians were skittled out for a paltry 79 runs with Shanaka Perera claming 4 for 5 for Vidyalians.

Following on visitors did much better to score 220 with Nimesha Gunasinghe 72 and Damithra Panditharathne scoring 89. Viraj Deepal too contributed 24 runs. Harsha Fernando had a fine spell of 5 for 43 while Shanaka Perera had a match bag of 7 for 84.

Chasing a target of 121 runs in eighteen overs for an outright win Vidyalains were 102 for 7 with Saneth Fernando making 49.

St. Anthony’s - 79 (Harsha Ebert 21, Shanaka Perera 4/5) and 220- (Viraj Deepal 24, Nimesha Gunasinghe 72, Damithra Panditharathne 89, Shanaka, Perera 3/39, Harsha Fernando 5/53, Nipun Randika 2/38).

Moratu Vidyalaya – 180 and 102/7 (Saneth Fernando 49, Harsha Fernando 17, Sachin Bulathsinghala 2/46, Charles Praveen 2/23).
