Certificates for 40 students who completed Life Saving Training course

Sri Lanka Coast Guard held the certificate awarding ceremony of the 'Life Saving Course' conducted by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Life Saving Training School, Balapitiya.

Certificates were presented to students of five schools who completed the Life Saving Training course successfully. Forty students received certificates.

This was held under the patronage of Sri Lanka Coast Guard Deputy Director General Commodore Ananda Guruge.

Twenty four schoolchildren and 23 school cadets of the National Cadet Corps have undergone training at the Life Saving Training School. This is the first ever 'life saving' training course conducted for schoolchildren.

Students from Rewatha College (National School) Balapitiya, Siddhartha Central College, Balapitiya, Dharmashoka College, Ambalangoda, P de S Kularathnana College, Ambalangoda and Sri Devananda College, Amabalangoda participated in the three week training course.

The second batch of school cadets underwent seven days in house training. All the trainees underwent training in the 'Basic' and 'Resuscitation' levels where they were taught the essentials of lifesaving aspects through theory and practical sessions.

Officials of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard and National Cadet Corps, parents, Principals and teachers were present at the certificate awarding ceremony.
