Kandy's century old slaughter house closed

The Kandy Municipal Council has decided to prohibit the slaughter of
cattle within the Kandy City, which is a World Heritage Site.
In keeping with this decision, the slaughter house maintained at
Suduhumpola would be closed down from March 15, Kandy Mayor Mahen
Ratwatte said.
