Sachin’s efforts go invain as Peterites win by six wickets

An unbeaten 94 in 139 balls with thirteen boundaries and two hits
over the ropes and six wickets for 53 runs by St Anthony’s College
skipper Sachin Bulathsinhala did not prevent St Peters’ from registering
a six wickets win in their under 19 cricket match played at the St
Peter’s Grounds, Bambalapitiya yesterday.
The hosts asked St Anthonys to bat first. Skipper Sachin scored 94 of
the total of 187 while Julion de Zilva capturing four wickets for forty
eight runs. Ranitha Liyanarachchi, Sudil Dissanayaka and Chrishan
Fernando took two wickets each.

St Peters managed to score 206 runs in 53.3 overs. Opener Shasheen
Fernando batted for 220 minutes to score 82 runs which included five
boundaries and a six.
Lahiru Nilantha chipped in with 61 (seven boundaries and a six)
Sachin Bulathsinhala bowled well to take six wickets for fifty three
runs.
The Anthonians were restricted to 146 in 53.4 overs. Viraj Deepal
topped the batting with 38. But Sahan Nanayakkara captured five wickets
for twenty three runs to turn the match in favour of the Peterites.
With a victory target of 128 runs to be scored in a minimum of 13
overs, the home team took up the challenge to finish the game with six
wickets in hand and thirteen deliveries to spare.
Skipper Dushan Hemantha was unbeaten on 41 scored in fifteen balls
(three sixes and two fours) while Shasheen Fernando was unlucky to be
run out for 37 scored in 22 balls (six hits over the ropes). Julian de
Zilva got 20 runs off 12 and Lahiru Milantha scored 20 off 10
deliveries.
