Since local and foreign conspiratorial forces are trying to
destabilize the country by sowing the seeds of racial and religious
discord, people should act in an intelligent manner without falling prey
to the machinations of these sinister forces, International Monetary
Corporation Senior Minister and Deputy Finance Minister Dr Sarath
Amunugama said.
He gave this warning addressing a meeting at Sunrich Hotel
Auditorium, Hedeniya to mark the awarding of certificates to a batch of
300 youths who had completed Korean Language and Computer Training
courses at the Nugawela Amunugama Foundation.
Dr Amunugama said the majority of people in this country were
Buddhists. But the country could not achieve economic development during
65 years of independence due to various domestic struggles and youth
uprisings. But since the President had liberated the country from
terrorism and restored peace and unity, the country had been able to
achieve much economic progress during the last few years.
Opposition sections smarting under this achievement were making a
desperate attempt to disrupt the country's progress by sowing the seeds
of discord. He said aiding or abetting violence and discord was a
wrongful act according to religious teachings.
Education Consultant Claude Amunugama, Dinesh Dharmadasa and several
others also spoke. |
