Record crowd at Sripada
Over 400,000 devotees have made their way to the sacred peak with the
commencement of the Siripada season.
Nuwara Eliya District Secretary D G P Kumarasiri said the largest
number of devotees to arrive at Sripada was witnessed last week.
The number of devotees arriving at the site via Nallathanni was so
great, it created road blocks. Devotees had no option but to walk about
15 kilometres.
Some devotees had to turn back due to the heavy volume of vehicles
and pilgrims at Nallathanni, Seetha Gangula and Idhikatu Pana to Maha
Giridamba.
