A building used by Kandy Police as part of their official quarters
was handed back to St. Sylvester's College by the Police on President
Mahinda Rajapaksa's orders on Saturday.
The order came from the President when the matter was brought to his
attention by a group led by Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa.
The building, which formed part of the college primary section, was used
by the Police as its official quarters.
Kobbekaduwa said with the building being handed over to the college,
it will be used as a centre for trilingual training and information
technology for students.
Kandy District Secretary Gamini Seneviratne said the government
purchased land from the upland area to be used as the Kandy Police
Headquarters. |
