PS member remanded

A member of Wennappuwa Pradeshiya Sabha who had been arrested in connection with an incident where a woman was allegedly assaulted and another man was threatened has been remanded until February 22 after being produced at the Marawila Magistrate's Court.

Marawila Police arrested the PS member following a complaint lodged by the victims on Monday stating that the suspect assaulted and threatened them inside a land opposite Bandirippuwa community hall where a group of youths were clearing it for use as a volleyball court. The woman injured in the assault has been admitted to Marawila hospital.
