CID seizes Rs. 3 m worth macaroni

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) arrested eight suspects with a container load of macaroni worth Rs three million when they were attempting to cut open the container after having it released by producing forged documents. The CID on information received deployed its officers to trace the container and seized it while it was parked at the Peoples Park, Fort.

Further investigations revealed that the suspects had produced forged documents to the harbour customs and cleared the cargo by paying Rs 600,000 instead of the actual duty, a sum of Rs 2.5 million.

The suspects and the seized goods were handed over to the Customs for legal action.
