National Identity Cards will be issued to students of 16 years and
above in the Southern Province from February 19 to 24 at the Richmond
Rhythm 2013 exhibition held at Samanala Grounds in Galle.
The secretary to the Richmond College Old Boy's Association Srimal
Wijesekara said at a press conference at Foundation Institute that it
was discussed with the Commissioner General of Registrations of Persons
to provide this facility during this period at the exhibition site.
He added that a space is allocated for the Registration of Persons
Department within the exhibition premises for students who completed age
16 to obtain the National Identity Cards.
He said this will be a good opportunity for the schoolchildren in the
South to get their identity cards before they sit for their
examinations.
Wijesekara said not only this facility but the facility to change the
damaged identity cards will also be provided at the same venue. This
facility will be provided from morning until 10 pm during the six days.
Chief organizer of the Richmond Rhythm carnival and trade exhibition
Hemantha Gamage said the event is organized to collect funds to
construct the Chamal Rajapaksa Sports Complex at Richmond College.
He added that in addition to obtaining Identity Cards, there will be
facilities to issue passports and renew driving licenses as well.
He added that the carnival will be a great experience for the people
in the South as there will be roller coaster, galaxies etc.
The organizing committee said the exhibition will consist of over 70
stalls belonging to the government and private sector. There will also
be six food stalls. |
