Train-car collision in Galle

A car was knocked down by a Matara bound express train from Colombo
at Magalle, Galle, around 11 am on Thursday. The car was crossing the
railway intersection at Magalle. Galle Registrar of Marriages Chandima
Lindula was travelling in her car with the driver to register a
marriage. The two were admitted to Karapitiya Teaching hospital with
injuries.
Although a new gate at the crossing had been installed recently by
the Galle Municipal Council, it had not been operative as no gate-keeper
had been assigned by the authorities. |
