Sanjeewani Piyadarshani qualified for university entrance after
obtaining three A passes in the commerce stream. She lives near Kelani
Bridge at Sedawatte.
She will be given a new house by the Construction, Engineering
Services, Housing and Common Amenities Ministry under the Jana Sewana
Housing Project. Piyadarshani will receive the new house constructed at
Borella by next week. She is a student of Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya,
Borella and residing in a temporary house at New Kelani Bridge Road,
Sedawatte with minimal facilities.
The house gets flooded during rain. Piyadarshani's mother is
receiving treatment for burn injuries and her father works as a casual
labourer. Piyadarshani has two younger brothers who are schooling.
She obtained two Bs and a C at the A-Ls in 2011 even after they were
affected by floods. She fell sick after trying to save her books from
the flood waters. Piyadarshani sat for the exam again in 2012 as she did
not have enough marks to enter university. |
