SLVF felicitates former players:
Volleyball ‘Eda Sita Ada’ launched

A book on the history of volleyball titledÓVolleyball Eda sita Ada”
(Volleyball then and now), was launched at the Galle Face Hotel at a
grand ceremony last evening.
The book covers all activities and aspects of Volleyball in Sri Lanka
from 1895 to 2011 and is presented by the Sri Lanka Volleyball
Federation (SLVF) and edited by SLVF General Secretary Susil Ranasinghe.
The book also discusses comprehensively how the game was evolved and
all the aspects of Volleyball in both local and international
perspectives.
Meanwhile 122 Veteran National Volleyball Players and past captains
were also felicitated at the launch yesterday for their contribution
made from 1951 to 1991.
The Chief Guest of the launching ceremony was Sports Minister
Mahindananda Aluthgamage while SLVF President and Foreign Employmelnt
Promotion and Welfare Minister Dilan Perera, parliamentarians Dilum
Amunugama, Shantha Bandara, Athletic Association of Sri Lanka president
Maj. Gen. Daya Ratnayake, National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka
Genaral Secretary Maxwell de Silva and Sports Director General Ranjani
Jayakody were also present. Others who graced the ceremony were the past
presidents and secretaries of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation,
Charitha Ratwatte, Thilak Iddamalgoda, Asoka Wadigamangawa, Ronnie De
mel and Dr. Sunil Jayantha Navaratne.
