Brothel raid

Police raided a brothel in a night club at Kollupitiya and arrested nine suspects including two Thai, one Chinese and five Sri Lankan women.

A person from Norwood is among the suspects. The Sri Lankan women, residents of Seeduwa, Wadduwa, Wariyapola and Moronthuduwa are aged between 24 and 36.

Eight nabbed

Chilaw Police arrested eight persons at Wella Moyakata in Chilaw planning to illegally migrate to Australia and Canada by sea. The suspects, aged between 19 and 42, are residents of Jaffna, Point Pedro, Karaweddi, Udupiddi and Kandiraweli.

They were produced before the Chilaw Magistrate's Court.

Deadly fall

An elderly person died after he fell from a tree at Godakanda, Bibilamulla in Medagama on Monday. The victim was identified as D M Appuhamy, 70.
