Independence Day celebrations at Heathrow Buddhist Temple
Sri Lanka's 65th Independence Day celebrations organised by the
Athula Dassana International Buddhist Temple was held in UK recently.
The Athula Dassana International Buddhist Temple dancing group
presented dance items at the event. High Commissioner Dr Chris Nonis,
Chief Guest at the opening ceremony, lit the traditional oil lamp and
hoisted the Sri Lankan flag. The High Commissioner addressing the
gathering said he was pleased that within a short period, Sri Lankans in
the UK, including Ven Wanduramba Kassapa were able to organise a
successful Independence Day programme.
Over 300 invitees including members of the Athula Dassana
International Buddhist Temple participated. The chief organiser of the
event, Ven Wanduraba Kassapa Thera is the chief incumbent of Athula
Dassana International Buddhist temple.
