President to open tallest building in Jaffna

President Mahinda Rajapaksa will ceremonially open the Central
Functioning Building complex built at Jaffna Teaching Hospital this
morning on the invitation of Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena, a
Health Ministry spokesman said. According to the spokesman the building
complex which cost Rs. 2,870 million was built with the assistance of
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This is the second
hospital project to be opened under the Health Ministry's 2013-2017 five
year health development plan.
There are eight operating theatres, two Intensive Care |Units with 20
beds in each, central supply and sterilization unit, central laboratory,
CT scan unit and many modern medical facilities will be available in
the building.
The building complex is powered by a solar power unit positioned at
the top of the building complex, he said. This is the tallest building
constructed in the Jaffna district.
Health Deputy Minister Lalith Dissanayake, Traditional Industries and
Small Enterprise Development Minister Douglas Devananda and many others
will be present.
