Investigation on amputation:

Report to be submitted to minister

The investigation report into the amputation of the left hand of a Law student which was received by Health Ministry Secretary Dr. Nihal Jayatilleke on February 11 will be handed over to Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena soon, a Health Ministry spokesman said.

According to the spokesman the investigation team appointed by Dr. Jayatilleke had recorded statements from over 20 persons.

The team was headed by Health Services Director, Dr. Lal Panapitiya. The other members of the team were specialist

surgeon Dr. Harendra Pinto, Specialist Surgeon Dr. Tilak Kollure and Specialist Surgeon Dr. Ratnesena, he said.

The team was ordered to provide the report within three days and conduct further investigations on the evidence recorded during the investigation and submit the report.
