"Lanka IOC has continuously being supplying quality fuel to our
valued customers and we are committed to continue selling quality petrol
and diesel products that meet the required specifications," said
Managing Director, Lanka IOC Plc., Subodh Dakwale.
Lanka IOC calls for global tender from the most reputed companies in
the world, and the successful bidder will be granted with the contact.
The normal procedure, before the shipment is cleared is the necessary
testing is conducted at the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminal Limited
(CPSTL) laboratory and the shipment received at the Trincomalee harbour
is tested at the Lanka IOC laboratory. After the product is cleared by
the laboratory tests, will be permitted to be discharged from the ship.
At Trincomalee, this process is overseen by Lanka IOC officers where as
at Colombo, the entire process is coordinated by CPSTL, which is a
common agency for Lanka IOC and Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) for
storage and distribution of petroleum products.
Lanka IOC would not allow any diesel or petrol cargo to be discharged
from the ship if the specification at the discharge port laboratory test
are not satisfactory.
At this instance, the petrol sample had passed the full specification
test, while the diesel sample was found negative in relation to the
appearance.
The test report they received clearly stated that the appearance of
the colour did not meet the CEYPETCO standard, where by the supplier and
the ship owner were made aware of this situation.
