Eswaran Brothers appoints non-executive directors

Eswaran Brothers Exports, one of the leading value added tea exporters in the country, announced the appointment of three non-executive directors.

Eastman Narangoda, Nalin Jayasuriya and Hanif Janoo have been appointed as independent directors in order to provide guidance, oversight and to ensure that the company is run in compliance with best practices in good corporate governance.

Narangoda brings a wealth of experience and knowledge after overseeing a number of financial institutions. An alumnus of the University of Ceylon, Peradeniya and Diploma holder of Advanced Bank Management from Stockholm, Sweden, Fellow of the Institute of Bankers Sri Lanka, he was a former General Manager/CEO of the National Savings Bank, Director/Vice Chairman of Financial Ombudsman, Sri Lanka, past President of the Association of Professional Bankers and a member of the governing Board of the Institute of Bankers in Sri Lanka. He has also served as a Director of the NSB Fund Management Company, Asha Central Hospital, Mercantile Leasing Company and Asset Trust Management (Pvt) LTD.

He is also credited, while in the capacity of Executive Chairman of revitalizing the struggling Seylan Bank after the recent crisis and turning its fortunes around.

Dr. Jayasuriya who obtained a Doctorate in Business Management from the International American University, Los Angeles, California, is an internationally recognized specialist trainer and Consultant in HR and performance management.

He was formerly the Director of HR Mackwoods Winthrop, Regional Director of Sterling Winthrop, East Africa Region and thereafter, Regional HR Consultant and Regional Head of Special Projects of Smithkline Beecham International, Southeast Asia & India.

Hanif Janoo is an international tea industry expert with over 50 years of experience.

Janoo is currently the Managing partner of Haji Razak Haji Habib Janoo - Pakistan, as well the CEO of Mina Press and Publishing House.

He is also the past Chairman of the Pakistan Tea Association.
