Lumbini Maha Vidyalaya, Havelock Town's biggest success was when they
when they beat formidable Nalanda College by 59 runs at Campbell Place a
few weeks ago. It was a culmination of Lumbini's cricketing fortune in
the last few years where they emerged as a force to be reckoned with
producing cricketers of the calibre of Ranil Dhammika, Malinda
Pushpakumara, Chamara Lasantha, Maduranga Soysa, Malinda Perera, Sri
Lanka under 19 player Madhuka Liyanapathirana and last year skipper
Damith Priyadarshana who is playing for CCC this year.
The man who brought about this remarkable change in their fortunes is
that dedicated coach Dinesh Weerasinghe who is taking great pains to
mould them into a formidable outfit. Incidentally, a few years ago
Lumbini emerged joint champion of the Lemonade trophy with Maris Stella
College.

from behind the stumps.

in their lineup.

Nalanda ( 7 for 46).
Second year player Chamara Nishantha also an up and coming star in
the squad. Chamara totalled 507 runs for the last season and this season
Chamara scored around 400 runs.He is not only a fine batsman but also a
promising bowler.
He has the makings of a top right arm off spinner having captured 32
wickets last season with a five wicket haul (5 for 41) against Nalanda
this season. The batting sparkle will be provided by Janith Dias, Sajith
Malalgoda, Mohamed Akram, Jammika Dharana and Madushan Thiwanka.
