Mobile service for Menikagarawatta housing scheme dwellers

Minister Wimal Weerawansa attended at a mobile service to redress the
grievances of the Bandarawatta Menikagarawatta housing scheme in
Kaduwela yesterday.
The special mobile service was organized at a request of the house
holders of the scheme to look in to their problems. The Minister
instructed officials to remedy their problems immediately.
The Menikagarawatta housing scheme was set up in 2000 on two acres of
land belonging to the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA).Thirty
nine families were allocated housing units. Each housing unit is six
perches in extent.
The Minister directed NHDA officials inquire about issues faced by
low income earners and bring about speedy solutions to their problems.
The scheme dwellers’ brought to the notice of the Minister various
grievances,such as, the lacking of a community centre, poor drainage
facilities, demarcation problems of lands and unauthorized and improper
constructions in the scheme.
The people thanked the Minister for looking in ti their long term
problems and taking concrete measures to solve their problems.
Western Provice Councilor Jagath Kumara, Kaduwela Deputy Mayor
Buddhika Jaywilala, Kaduwela Municipal Councilor Deepal Hettiarachchi,
NHDA General Manager Brig. Mahinda Mudalige and NHDA Colombo District
Manager R.M. Subasingha were also present on the occasion. |
