Massive increase in health sector budget

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has increased funds towards the
development of the health sector through this year's budget by a massive
Rs. 25 billion provide modern medical equipment for government
hospitals, Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena said.
This is the first time that a government had allocated such huge sum
for the country's health sector.

This government is the only one which has rendered a yeoman service
to strengthen Sri Lanka’s free health service, he added.
The Health Minister said that funds allocated by the government for
the health sector increased every year since President Mahinda Rajapaksa
came to power. The allocation for the health sector increased up to
Rs.100 billion last year and it has now increased up to Rs.125 billion.
The minister was addressing the CT scanner baby cot handing over
ceremony at the Polonnaruwa Hospital.
Delmege Group of Sri Lanka handed over a CT scanner baby cot to the
Polonnaruwa Hospital spending Rs.600,000.
Entering babies to the CT scanner is a very difficult task and this
baby cot is a modern devise created to make this function easier.
