People’s Bank celebrates Independence Day
All People’s Bank branches along with the Head office organized
various Independence Day celebrations island wide to commemorate with
the 65th Independence Day.

The Independence Day celebration at the People’s Bank head office was
held under the patronage of Chief Executive Officer/ General Manager of
People’s Bank, N. Vasantha Kumar.
‘Nidahase Upatha’ a programme held by People’s Bank every year on
Independence Day was also carried out this year. Under this concept,
People’s Bank gifted ‘Isuru Udana’ Gift Certificate worth Rs. 500/- to
every baby born from February 1-7.
This programme was inaugurated by People’s Bank seven years ago with
a vision to instil pride and honour towards the motherland as well as to
encourage parents to have a vision for the future of their children.
Parents could open a Isuru Udana Children’s Savings Account for the
child at any nearest People’s Bank Branch with the Gift Certificate and
maintain the account there after. The speciality of this programme is
that the staff of People’s Bank visited the hospitals and gifting the
certificates to the newborns.
The main event at this programme was held on February fourth at the
De Zoysa Maternity Hospital in Colombo under the patronage of Chief
Executive Officer/ General Manager of People’s Bank, N. Vasantha Kumar.
Isuru Udana Gift Certificates and other gifts were offered to parents of
newborn babies at the occasion.
This occasion was attended by the Deputy Directress of the Hospital,
Dr. Dammika Jayalath together with staff of the hospital and the
corporate and executive management of People’s Bank. Staff members of
other People’s Bank branches islandwide visited local hospitals with
Isuru Udana Gift Certificates and other gifts for newborn babies.
Handing over of the refurbished maternity wards No. two and five of
Borella De Zoysa Maternity Hospital, funded by People’s Bank also took
place.
Renovation including repainting of wards, refurbishing of toilets and
bathrooms with new equipment were carried out. |
