CIM offers courses for leisure sector
Sri Lanka travel sector is booming and to meet the future demands of
the industry CIM would be introducing special courses targeting this
sector in Sri Lanka for industry professionals to develop their skills.

Global CIM President Sir Paul Judge who is currently in Sri Lanka on
an invitation of External Affairs Minister Professor G.L. Peiris said
that this course is very popular in many other countries.
“We were waiting for the right time to introduce this to Sri Lanka,”
he said.
Judge said there is a growing needed for marketing professionals for
the local leisure sector which is poised for high growth to meet the
future requirements of global players like Shangri La and many more.
He added the Sri Lankan CIM was one of their most successful
operations and boasts of the highest number of students outside the UK.
“I must congratulate former CIM presidents and the present management
in this regard,” he said.
He said that Sri Lankan economy is smoothly progressing and is adding
the much needed infrastructure.
“The country is also attracting huge foreign direct investments which
were very praise worthy,” he said.
He said that British investors too are keen to invest in Sri Lanka.
He added that the road development that is taking place too is
praiseworthy.
He however said that the Lankan health and the education sector s
need more attention.
“I would be visiting some of the vocational institutes in Sri Lanka
including the NIBM and would advise them on future demands and trends of
the educational sector.
Since 2008 he serves as the President of the Chartered Institute of
Marketing, UK, which is the headquarters of the CIM, and President of
the Association of MBA holders in UK. He also serves as a Special
Adviser to the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House).
