Pensioners’ problems will be looked into

Public Administration and Home Affairs Deputy Minister Vijaya
Dahanayake yesterday told Parliament that action would be taken
immediately to sort out the problems related to payments of all
pensioners in the country.
He said 20,000 new comers are added to the list of pensioners
annually and the government spends around Rs.10,000 million per month to
make their payments.
There are 515,000 pensioners in the country and the government has
agreed to grant for their rights in principal.
The Deputy Minister was answering to an oral question raised by UNP
MP Sajith Premadasa.
