Three lagoon crafts built under the Navy’s Inshore Patrol Craft
Construction Project are deployed for this boat service. Each craft
powered by two 115 Horse Power OBMs has seating accommodation for 25
people.
Passenger safety was given special emphasis with the provision of
on-board safety measures that include lifebelts and jackets.
The day time boat service operates between 8 am and 6 pm backed by
SLN divers, lifesavers and medical personnel.
A nominal fee of Rs 50 from students is levied as a concession while
a Rs 2,500 package is available for the public.
The service, the first of its kind launched with SLN expertise, is
ideal to view the Parliament in its full glory as well as the beauty of
the historic Diyawanna Oya and its scenic surroundings.
Sri Lanka Navy Commander Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage, Director
General (Operations), Rear Admiral Jayantha Perera, Western Naval Area
Commander Rear Admiral Rohan Amarasinghe and senior Naval officers were
