Greek bond issue fixed for March 5

The Supreme Court yesterday fixed the application filed in respect of
the Rs 3,472,576,045 Greek government bonds and investment issue for
support on March 5.
The Bench comprised Chief Justice Mohan Peris, Justice Sri Pavan and
Justice Eva Wanasundera.
The petitioner is UNP Parliamentarian Sujeewa Arjuna Senasinghe.
Among the eight respondents cited are Central Bank Governor Ajith
Nivard Cabral, the Treasury Secretary, the Monetary Board and the
Attorney General.
The petition inter alia states that due to the transaction, the
country incurred a financial loss.
The transaction from secondary markets was effected through
intermediaries cited as Morgan Stanley, Jeffries & Co Inc and Commez
Bank.
The transaction was effected with callous disregard to Sri Lanka
citizens and with corrupt and malicious intent for personal gains.
