Lahiru hits ton in drawn game

St.Peter’s College top order batsman Lahiru Milantha cracked a fine
century against Royal College Colombo in the second innings of their
inter school under 19 match ended in a draw at Bambalapitiya yesterday.
Royal, resuming their overnight score of 117 runs piled up 253 for 8
declared in 59.4 overs thanks to the heroic knocks from Shaminda Dias
(66), Isuru Gunatilleke (50) and Hashen Ramanayake (46). Dushan Hemantha
took 3 for 37 while Janith Liyanage captured 2 for 63.
The Peterites made a bold reply of 218 runs for 7 declared in 51
overs. Lahiru Milantha knocked a fine century studded with seven hits to
the ropes and five over it. Skipper Dushan Hemantha (38) and Jason
Buultjens (25) also made useful contributions. Poorna Aluthge was the
most impressive among the bowlers with 4 for 50. Royal were 112 for 9 in
17 overs when the play stopped due to bad light. Chemila Obeyesekere
bagged 3 for 56 while Julian de Zilva captured 2 for 1.
